Alvaro Barrington 'Grace'

Tate Britain, London 2024

''Grace' was Alvaro Barrington's personal exploration of Black culture and identity, a 3-part journey honouring his grandmother, mother and sister, exhibited in the Duveen Galleries at the Tate Britain.

MDM Props fabricated the sculpture of a steel drum and female dancer, and structure with industrial shutters programmed to move in time with music.

My Role Technical Designer & Production Managing

The Project

My contributions included preparing fabrication drawings, managing laser-cut files, and working closely with fabricators to ensure each element met the highest standards. I oversaw the integration of materials, fixings, rigging, assembly, and transportation, ensuring seamless execution and adherence to the project’s ambitious creative goals.

The culmination of our efforts is now proudly displayed at Tate Britain, and I’m honoured to be recognized on the exhibition plaque.
